hippygeorge A wonderful mix of prog rock tinged with metal and a large helping of English folk music. Hippygeorge says this is worthy of being in your collection! Favorite track: Pagan Spirit.
Nickie Harte Kelly

Nickie Harte Kelly The brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Joe Parrish, on vocals, guitar, flute, and mandolin, Albion is sweeping and ambitious. The electric folk band he’s assembled has flashes of metal, but for me, it really shines the brightest on the more medieval and chamber folk sorts of pieces, along with the expertly applied lush orchestration. I really love all of the pastoral, sweet acoustic pieces, but am choosing Black Lake as my favourite track to represent the release more fully. Favorite track: Black Lake (Llyn y Fan Fach).

normangreen Have been streaming this album for a while now and delighted to receive my cd in the post recently. Can’t fault the music, it takes me away to another time and place. An album to immerse oneself in. I look forward to hearing much more from this band! Favorite track: Pagan Spirit.

Steven Konopa WOW!! I am so stoked these guys finally put out a full album and this is just incredible! A beautiful meshing of the folk sound with progressive metal. The musicianship on display here is just absolutely stunning. Track #2 - "Arthurian Overture", even has a bit of "Mars: Bringer of War" vibe to it. Sounds incredible on my high-end audiophile system! Very clean and dynamic recording. Could even hear the breath on the flute! High-end music for a high-end system! Favorite track: Pagan Spirit.

I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree, And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made; Nine bean rows will I have there, a hive for the honey bee, And live alone in the bee-loud glade. And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow, Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings; There midnight's all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow, And evening full of the linnet's wings. I will arise and go now, for always night and day I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore; While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey, I hear it in the deep heart's core.

Pagan Spirit 07:56
Looking back before the cross was raised, And the gods were manifold within the earth, A king was crowned amidst the divine change, Of a heathen past - raised in the holy light, He had a Pagan Spirit, Christian Heart, And the flesh will wither, Soul depart, With a Pagan Spirit, But a Christian Heart, Looking now I see an ancient yew through the lychgate, And a celtic creed woven into the cross, And in that cross a vision of a hammer came to me, He who sought for the grail found peace at a heathen place, With a Pagan Spirit, Christian Heart, And the flesh will wither, Soul depart, With a Pagan Spirit, But a Christian Heart, Pagan Spirit, Christian Heart, He was born of the Otherworld, Prayed to the eastern son, Now ready, Made as one, By the dove and the raven waiting in Avalon, Pagan Spirit, Christian Heart, Flesh will wither, Soul depart, Pagan Spirit, But a Christian Heart, Flesh will wither, Soul depart, Pagan Spirit, Christian Heart...

With mind to seek out ruthless brother, And stay his hand, Find refuge in the hall of black, Enter dreamland, Encounter youth who embroiled a nation, Stoked flames of war, Be guided 'long the banks of the Severn, Below the ford, The king laments your size and charge, Once of such might, Behold the stone upon his finger, Recall these sights, Two serpents of gold leap from his sword, Calming that host, Four apples of red neath his thrown, Revive him most, A game to play within this dream world, Of yore, (Make your move) The ravens move between both states, Wage war, (Move if you want) Black meets white on grass and silver board, Alike, (It's your move) Dash the pieces into dust, Make the truce. Instrumental So be with him this night in Cornwall, Or be awake now.

Live for the May Day and the crowning of all green, Love by the lakeshore of an island unseen, Lying neath where Tommy will be laid to rest, He's not been there yet, Doorway open to intrepid ones, Led to a foretaste of Avalon, Only once each year on this, The most verdant of days, Take nothing back from this place, Lest the way be closed, Rays of sun warm him deeper here, Flower not of this world for a love dear, Treaty broken with every step taken back to the shore, The island will open no more, The flower has withered.

I learned the ancient story, And of the place the king did fare, Upon his final journey, To an isle they say somewhere, Avalon, The ancient spirits bore him there, Avalon, To the place, I don't know where, But I will find, Some told of an old town, And of a hill in the West Country, While others looked to coastlands, And to a lake hiding in the beacons, Of Cymru, In truth they all lead to one place, The key within the one who seeks, The veil lies thin between the worlds, Where you must pass, To find where the apples grow, In the search for the isle of mystery, Where Arthur lies waiting, You will pass over death, There to prove worthy, With the King, There to be reborn, The search for the isle of mystery, Where Arthur lies waiting, You will pass over death there to prove worthy, With the King, There to be reborn, Searching on for the isle of mystery, Searching on for the place where the apples grow, Search alone for the isle of mystery, There is a place, By the pale moonlight, Where he will walk by the waterside, To return, To a long-lost love, That haunts him still, Through all of his lives, Now she walks beside, Only a ghost here, She will be made flesh, On the Otherside, There to remain, Forever they reside, Where the hold of decay exists no more, And a vernal spell of spring covers all, Open wounds are healed, Blessed by the rainfall, The rainfall, Rejuvenate, Bring life eternal, Search for the isle of mystery, Where Arthur lies waiting, You will pass over death there to prove worthy, With the King, There to be reborn, In search of Avalon, In search of Avalon, Oh finding Avalon, Oh finding Avalon, Now you pass to find, The place where your soul will know, Some day you will find, The place where your soul will know.

O the year was Seventeen Seventy-Eight, How I wish I was in Sherbrooke now, A letter of marque came from the king, To the scummiest vessel I'd ever seen, God damn them all, I was told we’d cruise the seas for American gold, We’d fire no guns, shed no tears, Now I’m a broken man on a Halifax pier, The last of Barrett’s Privateers, O Elcid Barrett cried the town, How I wish I was in Sherbrooke now, For twenty brave men all fishermen who, Would make for him the Antelope’s crew, The Antelope sloop was a sickening site, How I wish I was in Sherbrooke now, She’d a list to the port and her sails in rags, And the cook in the scuppers with the staggers and jags, On the King’s birthday we put to sea, How I wish I was in Sherbrooke now, We were ninety-one days to Montego Bay, Pumping like madmen all the way, On the ninety-sixth day we sailed again, How I wish I was in Sherbrooke now, When a bloody great Yankee hove in sight, With our cracked four-pounders we made to fight, The Yankee lay low down with gold, How I wish I was in Sherbrooke now, She was broad and fat and loose in stays, But to catch her took the Antelope two whole days, Then at length we stood two cables away, How I wish I was in Sherbrooke now, Our cracked four-pounders made awful din, But with one fat ball the Yank stove us in, The Antelope shook and pitched on her side, How I wish I was in Sherbrooke now, Barrett was smashed like a bowl of eggs, And the main truck carried off both me legs, So here I lay in my twenty-third year, How I wish I was in Sherbrooke now, It’s been six years since we sailed away, And I just made Halifax yesterday.

There was a place cloaked by the mountains, Dark by name, Obsidian shining in the cool, Where he would lay his head for a time, Upon that eldritch steep, Eyes mirrored in the blackest pool, She said awake and your one true love you will find, Then through the mist appeared, A lone figure of sylphlike light, And he was drawn to her, Wait in the silence of the mountains, Of an evening for his true love to show, There comes a day she will forsake him, Stricken three times with no cause now she fades, He made an offer of bread three times, Then took her for his wife, She bore sons for him thrice, And she will act through them, To lessen the pains of man, A gift of Annwn, He is the silence of the mountains, Every evening for his true love won't show, There came the day she did forsake him, Ever-gazing at the lake she called home.

Walk, By the light of a moon that's shone before, Know, Every moment eternal evermore, God once demon, Told me one night this life that you lead, You'll live again, Once blasphemy, Now find desire for this eternal sanction and seal, Weigh on every action, On the precipice, For a single moment I would, Go through all of this, For the sake of this day, Content, To live out all the rest, Was that life? Say to death, By the shores of a mountain lake, I saw it all, The rains they pour then water rises, There to fall again, All joy wants is eternity, Then make it so, You now the god, Writer of your own myth and cycle, Author of the greatest story ever told, Such a heavy burden, Weigh on everything, For the greatest bliss I would, Go through all of this, For the sake of this day, Content, To live out all the rest, Was that life? Say to death, Grant it again, Here we are again, To weather the turning of the glass, For this day, My realisation of the moment, Made it the one, In itself, For the sake of this day, Content, To live out all the rest, Was that life? Say to death, Grant it again.

Camlann 06:28
The king rode out to face his own flesh and blood, I've seen their fates, Though only in dreams, I've sought to stay their hands, Has this all been in vain? I feel I've seen all this unfold many times before, Yet I fail just to recall that never-ending tale of yore, And so this final battle will happen again and again and again, It goes on and on and on and on, On and on and on the story goes, On and on and on and on, Forever on and on for me it goes, The mist hung in trees bare, Where two bodies lay with mortal wounds, Though one will be saved, And taken to the place where the trees bear fruit, All shall be remade, When the cycle of this legend takes place, On and on and on and on, Forever and on and on the story goes, On and on and on and on, Forever on and on for me it goes, I accept my role eternally.

about

Albion England, UK

Albion is an archaic name for Great Britain used by classical scholars to refer to this cold and wet island. Some 2000 years later in 2019, four young whippersnappers dug up the ancient term to use as the name for their new band.
At the foundation of this project would be the preservation and exposure of traditional folk music, but presented through the modern medium of metal and rock.
